About

I was born, raised, and attended college in Virginia, lived in Philadelphia for 2 years for AmeriCorps, then moved to New York City for grad school. I started this blog in 2010 as a repository for restaurant and tourist spot recommendations, but that’s what Yelp and TripAdvisor are for.

In late 2014, I (a long-retired High School track & field hurdler and sprinter) joined a gym and entered into the lottery for the NYC Half Marathon. Long story short, I ran NYRR’s 9+1 program in 2015 for guaranteed entry into the 2016 TCS NYC Marathon. I’m participating in 9+1 again in 2017 for 2018 NYCM entry. I joined ClassPass in September 2015 and have been regularly taking classes in everything from yoga to barre to strength training since. This has immensely satisfied my need for variety.

I’m more than a little into talking about training for races, fitness apparel, and “fueling”. And by fueling, I mean post-races donuts and iced coffee as much as my favorite flavors Gu Gel and Honey Stinger chews. I love baking and am currently working to perfect some Momofuku Milk Bar recipes as well as healthier fare from the Run Fast, Eat Slow cookbook.

As of early 2021, I’ve run 3 marathons, over a dozen half marathons, and countless 5K-15Ks.
